Adding Sound Effects

With Convertful, you can add a sound effect to your widget, so that a sound is played when a widget is displayed to your visitors. This way you can create widgets that visually and audibly catch your visitors' attention. Here's how to do it.

After you have created your widget, for example a pop-up or a scroll box, go to the Display tab and toggle on the "Play a sound when the widget is displayed button".

Select the sound you want from the list of available options.

Save and Activate your widget.

NOTE that due to browser restrictions, sound may not always play automatically.

When the sound might NOT play:

The sound may be blocked if:

  • The visitor has not interacted with the page yet (no click or tap).
  • The page was just opened or refreshed.
  • The widget loads in a new tab or after returning later.

Modern browsers only allow audio after user interaction to prevent unwanted sounds being automatically played, so it would be best to avoid using sound for widgets that appear automatically on page load.

To ensure the sound plays without any issues, the best practice would be:

  • Use with click-triggered widgets, i.e. trigger the widget after a user action (click, button press, form submit, etc.).
  • Show the widget after any interaction on the page.
  • Use sound for follow-up events (chat messages, confirmations, actions, notification after interaction).

Once a visitor interacts with the page, sounds will work normally during that session.

In some cases, once a visitor interacts with your site, sounds may continue working while they navigate between pages in the same tab.
