How to Set Up Double Opt-In with Convertful?

Convertful does not offer double opt-in on its widget. 

However you can achieve double opt-in by connecting Convertful with a CRM that offers double opt-in, for example, MailChimp or Platformly. Convertful will send your subscribers' details to the relevant CRM, who will then send out the email to confirm subscription before adding them to the CRM's contact list. 

Depending on the CRM of your choice, you may need to enable the double opt-in in Convertful once the integration is connected.  For example, with MailChimp, once connected, be sure to go the "Integrations" tab and toggle on the button "Request double opt-in confirmation if a subscriber is not in a list yet" as well as making sure you enable the double opt-in on the CRM side as well.

For Platformly, you can set up double opt-in by using their automations and tags, as follows:

  • Create the tags "single_optin" and "double_optin" in Platformly.
  • In Convertful, create your widget and set the button's "On Submit Actions" to create a user in Platformly and add the tag "single_optin" to the user.

  • Create an automation in Platformly for anyone with the "single_optin" tag to be sent a double optin confirmation email with a link that goes to your Thank You page. Then create an Automation Rule that if the link in that confirmation email is clicked, then add the tag "double_optin" to the user and remove the tag "single_optin". Note that the email sent to confirm subscription (double op-in email) is sent by the CRM and not Convertful. So if you would like to edit the text of the email, you would do this from within your CRM account.
