How to Setup A/B Split Testing?

A/B Split Testing allows you to test and compare two (or more) versions of a widget, against each other to find out which one performs better, version A or Version B. For example:

Please note that A/B Split Testing is only available with Blogger and higher subscription plans.

To set up an A/B Split Test, follow these steps:

  • From your Widgets List, select the widget that you would like to split test. Click on the 3-dot icon located on the right and select “A/B Split Test”.

  • A pop-up window will appear for you to fill in the name of the variation widget. Once you have named the variation widget, click “Create Variation”.

  • The variation widget will now appear under the original widget (the primary widget) as an A/B variation widget.

  • The A/B variation widget is a duplicate of the primary widget, which you can then edit and try out so you can compare the results against the original widget. For example, using different wording, fonts, images, colors and so on. To edit the A/B variation widget, simply click on the widget’s name and you will be taken to the Widget Editor. Edit the widget as required, save and activate both the Primary and A/B variation widgets. Note you can make the A/B variation widget the primary widget by clicking on the 3-dot icon and selecting “Make Primary”.

Note: To get accurate results for your split test, we suggest only making a single change between the widgets, so you can accurately determine which element change returns better results. The more changes you have between the widgets, the less reliable your split testing becomes.

Once you have activated both widgets, the system will randomly display one of the variations to each visitor and will display the same variation until the browser session reset (30 minutes of visitor's inactivity). To test your widgets, we therefore recommend using the browser's incognito mode (fresh session) to see that both variations are working.
